I love, LOVE movies.  And, if you are like me and you believe that Life imitates Art and Art imitates Life then perhaps you can share my appreciation for the film industry.

A couple of years ago they did a movie called Vantage Point. It was a movie about the attempted assassination of the American President and it is told and re-told from several different perspectives.  It was ok….

But, as odd as it sounds the other night while having my nightly cup of tea I began thinking about this; especially through my new vantage point as a mom.  Sometimes as women I think we get together to talk about things, to solve things, to vent.  But, I often find it funny when I hear one woman tell another woman how she would handle her situation.

What I so often want to say is “Girl, walk a mile in their shoes – then lets talk”.  There’s critical information missing from your point of view.

And, no doubt about it; there are complicated issues that come up in a family; but I am beginning to believe that the vantage point of “mom” is universal.

I am reminded by the story of the Prophet Salih who is quoted as saying “My people, you don’t love people who give you good advice.”

I’m not sure what that really means entirely but I do know that a lot of people can give you good advice on how they would live your life. However, as I am learning no one can tell you what to do because no one has your “vantage point”.  Ultimately, your life is in your hands.

As a Mom, I think our vantage point is love and it changes everything.
