Food as Fuel

I am constantly amazed at Mother’s of young children who deal with the difficulties of “food”.  My heart goes out to them because the simple pleasures of learning to eat and eating can be a horrific and stressful experience for both the parents and the child.

I don’t know about you but I don’t remember eating being as complicated as it is today or with such dramatic “side-effects”?

As a competitive athlete there’s no question about it; you need to learn the value of Food.  It’s essential to your performance and who you can become as a competitor.

This doesn’t mean that even the most competitive athlete isn’t allowed a cheat day.

However, just because someone competes professionally doesn’t mean that the rules can’t apply to the rest of us.

Like 24 Hour Fitness states in their current advertising campaign; We are ALL athletes.

I believe that that’s right on some level.  After all, we are all living in a human body.  And besides from some minor aesthetic differences the human body basically has the same divine design; If you’re “relatively” healthy.

It should actually make us pause for a moment and think why we were designed this way.

I mean if you really want to talk health let’s have a discussion and talk about who formed the orb of the eye? Who pierced the openings of the nostrils and of the ears? Who made our mouth to open?  Who separated our fingers and toes? Made our feet broad and or made our heart shaped like a pyramid? Why are we all designed like this?

There are probably a host of different answers out there.

As a woman and a mother, I find it disappointing and irritating that food has become such a chore.  I actually dread cooking dinner – however, part of that is the hate of my kitchen layout and the other part is that I can never manage to have everything I want on hand to cook what I am in the mood for or that everyone will like.  I’m not that together…yet.

As odd as it sounds maybe we should take a cue from eating healthy from Madonna.  Ultimately what we would find is that the Cabala is merely symbolical of actual processes occurring within the human body.

Maybe that’s why they chose her to be on the cover of New Beauty Magazine?

And maybe, if we appreciated this fact we could have a new reason for discussion?

Or, perhaps we just need to go back to the basics and remember that Food is Fuel.  On second thought perhaps a better expression is Food is Life.

The HUMAN system, in particular the digestive system, breaks these food factors down to their essences, and then distributes them.  So we are not really living off of cheese or macaroni, but off the LIFE principle present in all forms of “nutritive” materials.

All of this food is taken in, loses it’s own identity, and is transformed into a common substance that can be handled by the body; or not.

Choose wisely!

Live and Learn.

Thanks for reading. Please pass this on to someone who means something to you.
